HALA BIRA! Dinagyang Festival!
By nicaq25 on Thu, 14/01/2010 - 1:57pmThe Dinagyang Festival is a religious and cultural celebration in Iloilo City held on the fourth Sunday of January, or right after the Sinulog In Cebu and the Ati-Atihan in Aklan. It is held both to honor the Santo Niño and to celebrate the arrival on Panay of Malay settlers and the subsequent selling of the island to them by the Atis.

Street corner ‘tutorial’
By memphis7 on Sun, 25/10/2009 - 9:24amI just had to post this...from an editorial
THE kids watched as I tightened a shoe lace along one of Cagayan de Oro city’s poorer but remarkably clean-swept barangays. A tutorial on urban sociology was the last thing I expected.
“My mother is in prison,” volunteered Clara, 7. Why? “Shabu,” she said matter-of-factly. Paula, 6, claims a neighbor rival tipped off the cops. “Her mother burned all the shabu before the police arrived.”
Will you visit her in the Davao jail? “We have no money. But my lolo has been released.” He’d also been in the clink for drugs. “He often beats us though,” Clara gripes.
They proudly point to “our school.” Paula likes to color. “But I have no Crayolas.” Clara’s schoolbag has a book and a pencil. Nothing else.
Useless leaders?

Those of us who had the good fortune to be spared from the life-and-death crisis that was the killer-weekend Typhoon Ondoy brought about, and whose only annoyance was being caught up in endless traffic, or having had to suffer the inconveniences of flooded streets and brownouts, will do well to ponder at the travails of our fellows --- friends, relatives, as well as simple kapwa-tao.
Dear KAbayan,
Urgent help from you. I'm from Cebu. My mom and daughter is suppose to travel not later than aug 8. We got the visa but when they asked DHL, they said NBI is needed along with the passport and visa. Problem is my mom needs to wait another 15 days for the release of her NBI as she has the same name . but it will too late for the to travel. It's my daughter's bday on aug 10, that's why we need them here before then.
Does it really require NBI? some says not needed. Which DHL branch caters this service in cebu?
Please help.
Thanks.

Your Favourite Holiday Destination
By LifeisBeautiful on Tue, 21/07/2009 - 9:30amVacations are approaching. I was thinking where to go. It will be a good idea to get some first hand information from expereinces of people on QL about their fav holiday destination instead of picking up opinions from the internet as they mostly sound like marketing gimmicks.
Any graduate of SOM cavite, cebu and sta.mesa manila? i am organizing the SOM alumni association qatar chapter, if your are interested please send me a message, let us continue the SOM tradition here in Qatar
