Pakistani expatriates to celebrate National Day on 25th & 26th March
By mr_listener on Mon, 08/03/2010 - 11:08amPakistani expatriates in Qatar will celebrate their country’s National Day on March 25 and 26, a spokesperson for the National Events Organising Committee (NEOC) said yesterday.
The Pakistan National Day falls on March 23 every year.
The NEOC, under the patronage of the Pakistan Embassy in Qatar, will serve as the umbrella organisation to co-ordinate all the arrangements to celebrate the National Day.
Two mega events to be organised by the NEOC will be a grand community gathering on March 25 at the Pakistan Education Centre (PEC) in Abu Hamour, followed by a humorous mushaira the next day at Pakistan Embassy Auditorium in West Bay.
Dear All,
I am looking for your input regarding the working hour for staff/fixed salary workers.
My company asking to all staffs to work 12 hours x 6 days a week by sending official memo. This working period is without paying any over time.Is there any clause limiting the working hour or fixed salary workers/staffs are considered Bonded labours?
My company also asking staff(through memo) to work on Eid Holidays without paying extra off days or Over time. Is it acceptable? We are a construction company.
Besides Eid Holidays, national day ,we are supposed to get 3 days off as per qatar law .That was also not granted. Even OT paid workers not get OT. is it acceptable as per qatar labour law?
Is there any governing body that takes care of all these issues?
Regards

A new public holiday in Qatar
By Formatted Soul on Sun, 27/12/2009 - 8:07amCouncil of Ministers Decision No.(33) of 2009 (“Decision”) was issued by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani on 30 August, 2009.
The Decision amended Emiri Decision No.(29) of 1996 and Council of Ministers Resolution No.(6) of 2008 (“Resolution”), both of which set out the various public holidays applicable to the employees of Qatari Ministries and other government bodies, the public authorities and institutions of Qatar and the Qatar Central Bank (QCB), and the financial institutions it supervises, namely the Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) and the Qatar Securities Market (QSM).
Article (3) of the Resolution specifically sets out the holidays applicable to employees of the QCB, QFMA, and QSC as follows:

Here i paste one article from other site, just read and think....
Qatarliving angers some Qataris
21 Dec, 2009 Annoyances
So what’s new? Somewhere on the exponentially growing world wide web, a site has pissed off someone. Also not suprising, there’s a rude post on QatarLiving.
I first saw this on the front page of The Peninsula:
“Disparaging remarks about National Day celebrations on a popular local website have upset many in the local community, says a young national.
Some remarks against the festivities and the people of Qatar as well as Asian expatriates were in bad taste and smack of racism, said Mohamed Al Jufairi, a civil engineer.

To the Qataris...
By Mira on Mon, 21/12/2009 - 9:52amGood Day All,
Clearly there has been quite the brouhaha due to some very hurtful statements posted by very few members. Personally, yes this is a "personal" statement, I think the Qataris are completely justified in their reaction and hurt.
Really their State is celebrating THEIR national day, and a few youths sit on cars and all of a sudden it's the end of the world. Last time I checked on "our" National Holidays in North America many of our youths, and people of all ages for that matter, get into their cars drunk and kill people. hmmm...doesn't sound so flattering now does it...but it is the reality.
If you didn't want to celebrate with the Qatari people than stay home, who goes to a party and complain's about the host?

Remarks in QL angers Civizens

DOHA: Disparaging remarks about National Day celebrations on a popular local website have upset many in the local community, says a young national.
Some remarks against the festivities and the people of Qatar as well as Asian expatriates were in bad taste and smack of racism, said Mohamed Al Jufairi, a civil engineer.
“We are quite upset and writing to some major corporations which advertise on this website to withdraw their patronage,” he told this newspaper in a brief interview yesterday.

In reply to Shame on Qatari National Day
By Qatariah-luv on Sun, 20/12/2009 - 2:18amYes, the Qatari National Day was lawless. But it's a day were Qatari people celebrate a special day...just like many countries celebrate some occasions...some throw tomatoes in the tomato festival in Spain, some splash water on people in the streets in the water festival in Thailand, some spray silly strings in Geneve Carnival....and the list goes on...These are just to give examples on the celebrations! Qatar is a safe country, if some of you are shocked to see teenagers sprayed with red or wearing masks! i say it's nothing near having crack and pot in night clubs! or maybe that doesn't shock everyone as they are used to prostitution and getting drunk! If you have time, you better discuss the "law" of prostitution and drugs in your country as both of them are allowed!
The QL Pathans on the Beach!!!
By Khanan on Sat, 19/12/2009 - 10:25pmLet me start with a WOW! an awesome begining to an extend weekend! and then extending our thanks to Qatar Living (Qatari and Ahmad) for providing the platform and opportunity to have this beach gathering.
It was one of the most memorable gathering we all had since long time. Went to Fuwarait beach and spend the day there and enjoyed to our heart. Everyone had a great time. Thanks to all the QL and few non-QL friends for showing up and making this event sucessful.
I will let the picture do the talking.
-The first stop was Mount Fuwarait (Jabal-e-Fuwarait), a rocky hill where we all experimented with our our off-road driving skills.
