Does anyone know the procedure for sponsoring a nanny privately?

Hi, my husband is in the process of sponsoring a nanny.

We are not going through an agency and we are trying our best not to ask my husband's PRO for help since he's technically not supposed to be assisting us with non-company related business.

It hasn't been the simplest trial-and-error experience, but we're almost done!

1. Our application to sponsor her was approved by the MOI.
2. Our nanny has since received her temporary 3-month visa.
3. She recently completed her medical test (X-ray & blood work) at the National Health Authority.
4. And has also received her blood type results from a private clinic.
5. Finally, she has been fingerprinted at the CID.

LiL Wayne Concert Cancelled....

Just to let anyone who was planning to go know...

Sara Nassery cancelled the event "Lil' Wayne LIVE in Doha - Thursday 16 April". Sara says, "We have been informed that the Ministry of the Interior will NOT be permitting Dewayne Michael Carter AKA lil' Wayne To enter or perform in Qatar and that's due to him being recently flagged by Interpol.

We follow the laws of the State of Qatar and we would not like to tarnish the state's image in any way or form. We have informed the artist's management that we will not be proceeding with the event scheduled to take place on the 16th of April at the Intercontinental Qatar and they communicated that they are disappointed that they could not fulfil their commitment to all the fans in Qatar.

Car registration renewal

Probably everyone knew this (except me) but there is a Ministry of the Interior kiosk in City Center, one floor down from Carrefour, that does car registration renewals. We had ours done in, no kidding, less than five minutes! Considering the time and effort it took to get the vehicle insurance renewed, this was a miracle.

Qatar Living : Topping the Charts

The Peninsula started a great new feature this week - the "Internet Charts" which track the most popular websites in Qatar. Qatar Living comes in just behind Qatar University and the Ministry of the Interior as the third most popular local site.

top websites in qatar

We're stoked at the recognition - QL has broken 8m pageviews last month and now has over 60,000 registered users. In fact, nearly 300,000 people visit Qatar Living every month.

This week has also seen another list of chart toppers from the folks over at the Visitor blog - more subjective but confirming something that QLers have known all along - that Qatar Living is the best website in Qatar!

Of course, the best recognition isn't that written up in charts or lists - it's the satisfaction that we have as a community knowing that we have helped so many people over the last three years have a better and more enjoyable life in Qatar.

So give yourselves a round of applause - QL is the great place that it is because of all your fantastic contributions!
