The Sanskrit word ‘avatar’ means incarnation, or to be more accurate, manifestation, or appearance.
Since Qatar Tribune has turned threeand- a-half years old this month, it is time for us to get out of our nappies and don a new appearance, the fresh look of a frisky youngster ready to strike it big.

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has closed the Jeddah office of a Lebanon-based television network after it aired an interview with a Saudi man speaking about his sexual escapades, a government spokesman said on Sunday.
Mazen Abdul Jawad, 32, was arrested last month in the Red Sea city of Jeddah after shocking Saudi Arabia, one of the most conservative countries in the world, by recounting details of his sexual exploits on Lebanese channel LBC.
The divorced father of four spoke to camera from his bedroom in Jeddah about how couples can spice up their sex lives.
Many Saudi wives dread husbands' foreign trip
By nicaq25 on Fri, 10/07/2009 - 6:55amRiyadh: A large number of Saudi families have started leaving the Kingdom to spend their summer vacation abroad after educational institutions closed last weekend.
Most of the Saudi families have plans to vacation in one foreign country or the other.
Remaining families will either stay at home or travel to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah or summer tourist destinations within the Kingdom like Taif, Abha and Al Baha.
Interestingly, several Saudi housewives are wary of their husbands going alone to spend summer vacation abroad. They are suspicious of the vacation plans of their spouses to go alone without taking them or any other family members with them.

Cartoon Controversy, again -this time in Doha
By genesis on Thu, 07/05/2009 - 10:26pmJust when we thought that people forgot about the danes. Here it comes again, this time in Doha. Apparently, lemming Rose Culture Editor of the Jyllands-Posten was in Doha last saturday. Being invited by DCMF. Outraged sms, emails, & local blog posts calling to close down the DCMF.
The Peninsula reported:
DOHA: Doha was seething with anger and resentment last evening with heated debates in majlises and drawing rooms and people exchanging angry messages — at least some calling Al Adeed (the security helpline set up by the Interior Ministry) after news that controversial Danish journalist, Flemming Rose, Culture Editor of the Jyllands-Posten, who had commissioned and published a series of cartoons derogatory to the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) was in the city for the World Press Freedom Day conference.
The whispers grew into a raging controversy late in the evening with most citizens and expatriates alike upset with the news after Ahmad Ali, former editor-in-chief and now General Manager of Al Watan daily, in a signed editorial in yesterday’s edition of the newspaper lambasted the organisers of the Doha Center for Media Freedom for inviting Rose for the World Press Freedom Day conference. By inviting the controversial figure, who had insulted the Prophet (PBUH) by publishing the cartoons, he wrote, the Center’s head Robert Menard had insulted all Muslims. “Menard should know that there is a red line to media freedom and you cannot cross that border.” We cannot accept any media freedom that insults our dear Prophet,” Ahmad wrote.

A mysterious figure resembling a human being was sighted on the Doha Corniche’s parking lot, according to a report published in a local Arabic daily.
The report is based on the statement of an Arab expatriate lady who said she had seen the strange figure near the Oryx statue while walking in the area.
Quoting the woman, the daily said she took a picture of it in spite of being terribly frightened.
“She was very soon surrounded by a large number of people who also attested to the fact of what she had seen . But it suddenly disappeared out of their sight when they tried to go near it,” the report added.
