Avoid Hangover during Christmas Holidays..

A nutritionist claims to have invented an alcoholic cocktail that could prevent festive hangovers by “cleaning” the bloodstream. The vodka-based tipple contains a string of “superfoods” that cleanse the system and ward off the effects of heavy drinking.

It is the brainchild of the British nutritional therapist and Indian “superfood” guru Gurpareet Bains, 32. He said: “This cocktail is about helping people have a good time without having to pay for it the following morning.”

Speaking at a dialogue with a group of Indonesian expatriates, he said that sponsors or employers must hand over personal documents such as passport and ID to employees as they are no longer entitled to keep them, reported the Qatar Tribune.

DID YOU KNOW THESE FACTS?

Drunk Engineer Assaults cop in Qatar

An American petroleum engineer has been sentenced to three-month imprisonment for “physically assaulting, under the influence of liquor, a Qatari policeman on duty”.
According to the charge sheet, the incident took place on September 1, 2007. The accused, then 25, tore the uniform of the cop who tried to arrest him at around 4am.
The Doha court of first instance also jailed him for an additional year for stealing the mobile phone of a driver and for another month for drunkenness in public.
The judge, who said that he used the mercy factor in giving the lenient punishment, ordered the subsequent deportation of the convict after he served the jail term.

Fall Down Drunk

A man, whose level of drunkenness was bordering on the absurd, stood up to leave a bar and fell flat on his face.
"Maybe all I need is some fresh air," thought the man as he crawled outside.

He tried to stand up again, but fell face first into the mud.

"Screw it," he thought. "I'll just crawl home."

The next morning, his wife found him on the doorstep asleep.

"You went out drinking last night, didn't you?" she said.

"Uh, yes," he said sheepishly. "How did you know?"

"You left your wheelchair at the bar again."

Private companies can't fire UAE nationals

One of my favorite blogs about life here in Qatar/the Gulf just posted this interesting tidbit, which I have excerpted below:

"Last week I laughed out loud to read that a group of Emiratis lodged an official complaint because they were laid off by their employer. One of the sacked Emiratis said: "Emiratis should be protected through legislation during such hard times. We should have these rights as UAE citizens. I find it strange that we should lose jobs in our own country."

Can you imagine making that argument in the US? "Hey, you can't lay me off! I'm an American citizen!"
