Scaling a wall

I’m not sure if Jimmy Galindo, my rock-climbing instructor, meant to be funny when he told me that the sport involved “a steep learning curve,” but that line’s so good, I’m swiping it.
Indoor rock climbing: It’s a lot of fun, but you might say there’s a steep learning curve.
How steep? Well, Galindo’s Sportrock in Alexandria, Virginia, has walls as high as 40 feet, similar to the other two gyms I visited, Earth Treks in Columbia, Maryland, (44 feet) and Results on Capitol Hill (38 feet).
The Turtle King
By fanonite on Wed, 19/08/2009 - 7:25pmMy kids have brought these gorgeous baby turtles from the Nature World about three weeks ago. These beautiful creatures have brought a lot of laughter and joy to our lives. Yesterday, I found my children aged 6 and 8,playing chess using their turtles as the kings. I really enjoyed watching the game.

faimily life in qater
By godgift on Tue, 19/05/2009 - 11:46amQatar is a family oriented country where children are welcomed just about everywhere. Families, and especially children, play an important role in Qatari culture. Outings are very popular and you will see large extended family groups picnicking outside and around the playgrounds, parks and the Corniche area in cooler months.
Qatar offers plenty of activities for you and your family, the hard part will be deciding which to try first.
Qatar may be a small country, but organized sports are big here. Activities in Doha to keep your family active include aikido, aerobics, badminton, baseball, basketball and bowling. Cycling is a favourite pastime and you’ll find families peddling around the compounds. Cross-country bikes can also be found for sale.
