Diwali, the festival of lights, is a symbolism of the eternal battle of light and darkness, both externally and within ourselves. It is a celebration of the triumph of good over evil and is an occasion to welcome prosperity and joy into our lives. Sweets are a quintessential part of Diwali and the exchange of sweets is a way to express love and joy. Whether you celebrate Diwali in all its splendor or just want to enjoy the delectable taste of Indian ‘mithai’, then here are a list of places in Qatar, where you can enjoy popular Diwali sweets.

Bikanerwala

Started as a small sweet shop in Bikaner, India in 1905, Bikanerwala has established itself as one of India’s biggest sweet brands with over 60 shops in India and numerous locations abroad. Along with a variety of delish savories, they have special Diwali sweets selection in different boxes of 250 gms, 500 gms, 750 gms and 1 kg, that you can purchase from their outlet.

Favorites: Kaju Barfi, Anjeer Barfi, Khoya mix

Aryaas

The first pure vegetarian restaurant in Qatar, Aryaas has a wide range of Indian sweets on offer, including sugar-free sweets suitable for diabetic and weight-watchers. They have special sweet counters set up at their outlets from November 9th to 12th. They also have a delivery service and special rates for bulk orders.

Kailash Parbat

Known for their iconic chaats and flavorful North Indian cuisine, the restaurant brand is hugely popular in India and globally. This Diwali, they have exquisite premium sweet boxes with special packaging, ideal for gifting. These boxes are available at their old al Ghanim outlet and the Jaidah flyover outlet.

Saravanna Bhavan

One of the largest chains of South Indian restaurants in the world, Saravanna Bhavan has 30 outlets in India and 81 outlets across 25 countries in the world. Known for their South Indian food, they also have a selection of finest Indian sweets. This festive season, you can find a dedicated Diwali counter specially presenting sweets at their Qatar outlet.

Favorites: Cashew Barfi, Boondi Ladoo, Chocolate Barfi

 

Oriental Bakery & Restaurant

One of the oldest Indian bakery and restaurant in Qatar, Oriental Bakery and Restaurant has a selection of finest Indian sweets available at their outlets. Because of the high demand for the sweets, it is recommended to make an advance booking to avoid disappointment.

Favorites: Apple Peda, Ghee Mysore Pak, Strawberry Barfi

 

Bombay Sweets

The Bombay Sweets outlet near C-Ring road might look small from the outside, but they have a large variety of Indian sweets and savory dishes. The sweets are reasonably priced and look and taste delicious. You can buy individual sweets or get mixed customized packets.

Favorites: Punjabi Barfi, Kaju Roll, Milk Cake

 

MRA Bakery Restaurant & Sweets

MRA brings the cuisine of the idyllic Malabar coastal region of India to Qatar. For Diwali they have special gift hampers of mix sweets in beautiful boxes that are perfect for gifting. The boxes are available at all their six outlets and also available to order online. For customized boxes, it is better to visit the store.

Delhi Zaika

For a North Indian flavour, you must try the cuisine at Delhi Zaika. For Diwali they have a special selection of Indian sweets on offer. You can check their sweet offerings at their Delhi Zaika outlet at Najma or the Delhi Sweets outlet at Old Airport road.

Gokul Gujarati Restaurant

The first authentic Gujarati restaurant in Qatar, Gokul Gujarati are known for their lavish thalis and friendly service. The restaurant has 35 items on their special Diwali menu comprising both sweets and savory snacks, which will be available during the festive season.
