Doha gears up for 2025 World Table Tennis Championships from Saturday

Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani toured the Lusail Sports Hall on Thursday to check on preparations for the World Table Tennis Championships Doha 2025, scheduled to be held at the venue from May 17 to 25.

Sheikh Joaan was accompanied by Qatar, Arab, and Asian Table Tennis Federations President Khalil Ahmed Al Mohannadi, who is also the First Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation. Other members of the tournament’s organizing committee were also present.

The Lusail Sports Hall will host the opening ceremony and all matches of the World Table Tennis Championships.

A total of 640 players are expected to participate. They will be divided into 256 players in the singles’ competition, 256 in the men’s and women’s doubles competitions, and 128 in the mixed doubles’ competition.

The 20,000-seat Lusail Sports Hall has previously hosted a number of major sporting events, most notably the 2015 IHF World Handball Championship.
