The Education City Stadium, which hosted many matches of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, will open its doors to believers for Eid prayers for the first time this year.
Date: Friday, April 21 — first day of Eid
Location: Education City Stadium, Education City, Al Rayyan
Time: 5.20am
The Minaretein Center, based out of Education City, announced that Eid prayers will be held for families inside the stadium premises on the first day of Eid, April 21, from 5.20am onwards.
It added that believers can also take part in an Eid Festival, organised by the Minaretein Center, following Eid prayers.
The 44,667-seat capacity Education City Stadium, which hosted eight World Cup matches until the quarterfinals last year, is now expected to become a sporting and cultural hub for the local community including students and faculty.
The facility, nicknamed ‘Diamond in the Desert,’ is one of the most environmental-friendly stadiums in the world.
The Stadium is housed inside Education City, which in itself is the flagship initiative of Qatar Foundation — a non-profit organisation made up of more than 50 entities working in education, research, and community development.
The Education City campus is spread over 12 square kilometres and hosts branch campuses of some of the world’s leading educational institutes, a homegrown university, and other research, scholastic, and community centres.
