As part of its ongoing efforts to consolidate transparency and enhance tax compliance, Qatar’s General Tax Authority (GTA) has referred 13 companies to Public Prosecution after they were proven to be involved in tax evasion cases totaling approximately QAR36 million.
These companies, which were identified during the first half of 2025, were referred to the relevant authorities following investigations conducted by GTA’s relevant departments, in coordination with government authorities. The investigations revealed clear tax violations, including companies concealing their true income.
This measure comes as part of GTA’s commitment to the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to achieve financial stability by enhancing the efficiency of the tax system and ensuring that all economic entities adhere to their responsibilities.
This will contribute to protecting public resources and achieving tax justice. Combating tax evasion is also part of efforts to diversify sources of income by developing an effective and sustainable financial system that supports economic diversification and enhances Qatar’s ability to finance comprehensive development projects and achieve balanced economic growth.
In this context, the GTA clarified that the companies referred to the Public Prosecution are registered in the country, and that necessary measures have been taken against them in accordance with provisions of the Income Tax Law No. 24 of 2018, which criminalizes fraud and tax evasion.
Accordingly, the GTA calls on all taxpayers to adhere to the necessity of submitting tax returns transparently and accurately within the legally prescribed deadlines.
The Authority noted that it will continue its efforts to combat tax evasion, which is a financial violation that negatively impacts the national economy, and to apply tax laws fairly to all, thus enhancing the business environment and sustainable development efforts in the State of Qatar.
The GTA, through its various departments, continues to strive to further spread the culture of voluntary compliance and enhance community confidence in the tax system. This is intended to raise compliance rates, reduce tax evasion, and prevent legal accountability.
