HH The Amir, French President discusses bilateral relations, developments in Gaza

HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Lusail Palace in Doha on Saturday.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed strategic cooperation and relations between the countries in various fields and ways to strengthen and develop them.

They exchanged views about various regional and international issues, including developments in the Gaza Strip and occupied Palestinian territories.

Sheikh Tamim stressed the importance of continuing joint international efforts for peace and a permanent ceasefire in Gaza to protect civilians and deliver humanitarian aid to the people.

“My discussions with French President Macron today in Doha are part of our ongoing efforts to discuss a ceasefire and reduce the escalation in Gaza. We work in all directions and with all partners to stop the blood of our Palestinian brothers, and we hope the international community will play its assigned role to achieve a just peace for the Palestinian cause,” Sheikh Tamim wrote on his social media channel.

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Chief of Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, and several senior officials attended the meeting.

On the French side, the meeting was attended by Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna and several members of the accompanying delegation.

Sheikh Tamim and Macron also held a bilateral meeting to discuss various issues of common interest. HH The Amir then hosted a dinner banquet in honor of the French President.
