HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Guterres reiterated his strong condemnation of the recent Israeli attack on Qatar, labelling it a blatant violation of international laws and norms and cautioning that such actions further destabilise regional security.

Both leaders underscored the urgent need for coordinated international efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip. They expressed serious concern over threats to humanitarian corridors, warning that their destruction would further exacerbate the critical situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The discussions also covered strategies to strengthen cooperation between Qatar and the UN, as well as a review of the latest regional and global developments. An exchange of views took place on key issues scheduled for deliberation at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, along with members of the official delegation accompanying HH The Amir.
