HH The Amir meets with Lebanese Prime Minister in Doha

HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received Lebanese Prime Minister Dr Nawaf Salam and his accompanying delegation at his office at the Amiri Diwan on Tuesday.

The Lebanese Prime Minister, who is on an official visit to Qatar, expressed his nation’s solidarity with Qatar and its strong condemnation of the Iranian attack on the Al Udeid Air Base.

He said it constituted a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace, as well as of international laws and the Charter of the United Nations. He stressed Lebanon’s absolute rejection of any aggression that threatens Qatar’s security and safety, and which undermines the region’s stability.

He also expressed his deep appreciation to Sheikh Tamim, the government, and Qatar’s people for their support of Lebanon and their assistance during the current phase the region is going through.

On his part, HH The Amir thanked the Lebanese Prime Minister for his expression of solidarity and friendship towards Qatar, affirming the country’s continued support for Lebanon and its brotherly people towards achieving peace, development and prosperity.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them were discussed. Numerous issues of common interest — both regional and international — were also addressed.

The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Chief of Amiri Diwan HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Municipality HE Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Minister of Transport HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, and a number of senior officials.

From the Lebanese side, Dr. Ghassan Salame, Minister of Culture, Joe Saddi, Minister of Energy and Water, Dr. Fadi Makki, Minister of State for Administrative Development, Fayez Rasamny, Minister of Public Works and Transport and several other senior members attended the meeting.
