HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received a phone call on Tuesday from Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian.

At the outset of the call, HH the Amir reaffirmed Qatar’s strong condemnation of the attack on Al Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, deeming it a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace, as well as a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Sheikh Tamim also said this violation is completely inconsistent with the principles of good neighbourliness and the close relations between the two countries, especially that Qatar has always advocated for dialogue with Iran and has made significant diplomatic efforts in this regard.

HH the Amir stressed the urgent need to immediately halt military operations and to seriously return to the negotiation table and to dialogue in order to overcome this crisis and safeguard the region’s security and its peoples’ safety.

For his part, the Iranian President expressed regret to HH the Amir and to the brotherly Qatari people for the damages caused by the attack.

He noted that Qatar and its people were not the intended targets of this operation, and that the attack does not constitute a threat to Qatar.

He affirmed that Qatar remained a neighbouring Muslim and sisterly country and said he hopes for bilateral relations to always be based on the principles of respect for national sovereignty and good neighbourliness.
