Traveling through airports with your family can be a stressful exercise. However, Hamad International Airport (HIA), in an attempt to make flying for families more hassle-free, announced the launch of  ‘dedicated screening lanes for families’ on Monday.

The dedicated family lanes — for people with young children transferring through the airport — will ensure a reduction in wait times at security checkpoints.

Trained staff members will also help families manage their personal belongings. The initiative reflects HIA’s commitment to minimising stress and wait times, underscoring its dedication to providing everyone a seamless and efficient travel experience.

To further enhance the experience and ensure it is tailored to meet travellers’ needs, HIA will gather feedback and suggestions for improvement from passengers of these dedicated lanes.

Following a successful testing phase in the transfer screening area, it will be expanded to other security checkpoints, ensuring families enjoy a smooth journey throughout the airport.

The HIA continues to set new standards in modern air travel, prioritizing passenger experience and safety at every step. Over the years, HIA has significantly reduced passenger wait times at security checkpoints, ensuring well over 95% of passengers wait for less than five minutes to go through the security process. At the same time, it has enhanced the airport’s security levels.

Passengers transferring through the airport can keep their electronic devices and liquid containers in their hand luggage at checkpoints, streamlining the security process and resulting in overwhelmingly positive customer feedback, with a 97.2% passenger satisfaction rate.
