The tenth edition of Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW), the country’s largest community-driven environment campaign, was officially launched on Wednesday.

QSW 2025, which runs from November 1 to 8, will bring together Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future — a member of Qatar Foundation (QF) — and Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), alongside dozens of major partners, in a celebration of collective climate action and sustainable living.

The milestone 10th edition will highlight ten years of community engagement, featuring more than 600 activities - including workshops, panel discussions, family events, and awareness campaigns - that span public and private organizations.

The program will aim to promote environmentally friendly habits and accelerate Qatar’s progress toward its National Vision 2030 and National Environment and Climate Change Strategy.

Earthna’s events will spotlight critical themes like green and blue economies, responsible consumption, and ecosystem restoration. Noteworthy initiatives range from mangrove restoration family visits, to educational campaigns like QF’s ‘Clean Plate’ program targeting food waste.

Education City will mark the week with the Clean Plate Campaign, while City Operations teams will highlight ongoing sustainability efforts in landscaping, hospitality, transport, and cleaning.

Community spaces like Green Island, The Pearl, and major malls - including Doha Festival City and The Gate Mall - will host workshops and public activities aimed at inspiring practical steps toward sustainability.

Meanwhile, the MECC will launch specialized training workshops, such as preparing Qatar’s first transparency report under Paris Climate Agreement requirements, and lectures on the role of data in supporting national climate policies.

Qatar’s Ministry of Sports and Youth, in collaboration with its network of clubs, will roll out over 37 youth-focused and 11 sports initiatives, all aimed at fostering sustainable lifestyles and empowering young citizens.

Rashed Ali Al Noaimi, representing the ministry, said, “Young people are the main drivers of positive change. Through awareness campaigns and youth-led initiatives, we aim to prepare a generation that is environmentally aware and committed to a sustainable future.”

On the humanitarian front, the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) launched its ‘1 Million Jerseys for Gaza’ campaign, with the first jersey donated by the national football team.

Qatar Museums will organize youth festivals at Expo House in Al Bidda Park on both the opening and closing days. Qatar University will run a campus-wide sustainability campaign, extending QSW’s reach across educational sectors.

Dr. Gonzalo Castro de la Mata, Executive Director of Earthna, reflected on the initiative’s growth: “Over the past decade, Qatar Sustainability Week has evolved from an awareness campaign into a national movement that drives measurable change. Each year, it brings together thousands of individuals and organizations, proving that sustainability thrives when it’s lived collectively—not just discussed.”
