In a move aimed at safeguarding students' right to education, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar has announced the removal of the registration ban on students with unpaid school fees.
Effective from September 30, 2025, the Ministry will lift the restriction on all students in private schools and kindergartens who have outstanding financial dues. This decision comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to ensure that students are not deprived of access to education due to financial obligations on the part of their parents.
The announcement, detailed in a circular issued by the Ministry, reinforces the importance of upholding students’ educational continuity while also ensuring that private institutions can still collect their dues in accordance with established legal procedures.
Key Points from the Decision:
- The restriction on the National Student Information System (NSIS) will be removed for all financially defaulting students.
- Private schools and kindergartens must adopt alternative procedures and secure guarantees from parents to recover pending fees.
- Schools are advised to update their payment collection mechanisms for the 2025/2026 academic year, in line with the one-month grace period stipulated by Ministerial Decision No. 9 of 1996.
This initiative balances the rights of students to education with the need for private institutions to operate sustainably and efficiently.
