The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced an administrative one-week closure of Talabat services in Qatar, following findings related to consumer protection regulations.
According to the Ministry, the measure was taken under Articles (7) and (11) of Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection and its executive regulations. The decision comes as part of MoCI’s ongoing efforts to safeguard consumer rights and ensure fair business practices in the market.
The Ministry noted that the closure was linked to reported violations concerning the accuracy of product information and service guarantees. It added that such steps form part of its broader strategy to enhance transparency and strengthen consumer confidence.
At the time of this announcement, some users had also reported technical difficulties with the Talabat app, including slow performance and loading issues.
MoCI reiterated that it remains committed to monitoring the market, upholding regulations, and protecting the rights of consumers, while also emphasizing the importance of compliance by all service providers to support a healthy and competitive business environment in Qatar.
Framing the situation with balance, Talabat is actively working to address the concerns raised and is expected to resume normal operations soon.
