Qatar has been taking several steps to ensure that daily life in the country is not disrupted as a result of the illegal blockade placed by neighbouring countries.
One of the first measures Qatar had taken was open up new sea routes to move essential goods into the country — first via Oman and then from India.
The first of the two vessels operating under the new India-Qatar Express Service (IQX) docked at Doha’s Hamad Port yesterday reported Gulf Times.
The vessel, Hansa Magdeburg, had sailed from Nhava Sheva port in India, said Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) in a statement on Twitter.

Mwani Qatar also announced that another ship, Paul Abrao, had arrived at Hamad Port from Salalah in Oman.

The new IQX service connects Hamad Port with the Mundra and Nhava Sheva ports in India. It aims to boost trade between Qatar and India, and meet the growing demands of importers and exporters from both countries.
The new shipping line will involve weekly sailing, providing a direct express connection between Mundra, Nhava Sheva and Doha (Hamad Port) for local cargo and handle ICD (inland container depot) cargo via Mundra or Nhava Sheva.
The service includes two vessels – Hansa Magdeburg and Hansa Duburg.
Meanwhile, the first Turkish ship carrying some 4,000 tonnes of dry food supplies, fruits and vegetables set off from a port in western Turkey’s Izmir province on Thursday. The ship was expected to arrive in Doha in around 10 days.
