In a landmark diplomatic moment, HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani took part in the signing ceremony of an agreement to end the war in Gaza at the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt on Monday.

The summit, at the International Conference Center in Sharm El Sheikh, brought together several world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The gathering marked a major step toward ending one of the region’s most devastating conflicts.

HH The Amir was accompanied by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Chief of Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, and members of the official Qatari delegation.

Following the ceremony, Sheikh Tamim expressed his satisfaction with the summit’s positive results. In a post on his official X account, he voiced hope that the outcomes of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit would meet the aspirations of the people in Gaza and pave the way for a comprehensive, just, and sustainable solution to the Palestinian cause.

He emphasized the importance of all parties honoring their commitments and continuing to work toward lasting peace.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump praised the agreement as a ‘historic achievement’ and declared that the fighting in Gaza had ended. Speaking at the summit, he thanked Arab and Muslim nations for helping make the breakthrough possible, singling out HH the Amir for his ‘exceptional leadership and respected role’ in supporting the peace process.

Trump said the agreement marked ‘the beginning of a stronger and more peaceful Middle East,’ and confirmed that humanitarian aid had already begun entering Gaza. He called on all parties to maintain cooperation to ensure that the ceasefire holds and expressed optimism that the region was entering a new phase of stability and reconstruction.

During his address, the US President also extended condolences to Qatar for the recent tragic incident in Sharm El Sheikh that claimed the lives of several Amiri Diwan employees.

The Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit stands as a major milestone in international diplomacy, underscoring Qatar’s continued role in mediation and peacebuilding.
