Thousands of spectators came together at the Katara Cultural Village on Saturday evening to watch the live broadcast of the Grand Egyptian Museum’s opening ceremony. The event, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Egypt in Qatar, drew a large audience, especially from the Egyptian community.

The opening was attended by Katara General Manager Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, and Egyptian Ambassador to Qatar Walid El Feki, as well as several members of the diplomatic corps.

The live screening at Katara highlighted the foundation’s mission to promote global cultural engagement and bring significant international events to the Qatari public.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador El Feki described the museum’s inauguration as a source of pride for Egypt and humanity. He called the new museum a ‘civilizational bridge’ connecting Egypt’s history with its future, and praised the Egyptian leadership’s commitment to heritage and identity.

He emphasized that culture and art are crucial links between nations, enhancing understanding and cooperation.

The ambassador also commended the ongoing partnership between the Egyptian Embassy and Katara. He thanked the foundation’s management and staff for their efforts to enrich Qatar’s cultural landscape and foster international exchange.

“Katara has continuously contributed to enriching the cultural scene in Qatar and the Arab world through its distinguished initiatives and projects, fostering civilizational exchange among nations,” he was quoted as saying.

The live broadcast formed part of Katara’s efforts to connect audiences in Qatar with notable global cultural milestones and reinforce the shared values that unite nations.
