In the next 50 days, Qatar will host one of the most-awaited and highly-popular events in international football, the FIFA Club World Cup.

With football fans in the country and around the globe brimming with excitement for this major tournament, there couldn't be a better time for the tournament's official logo reveal.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) today lifted the curtain on the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 logo and shared some significant details behind its striking design.

According to the SC statement, the emblem embodies the highest achievement in global club football and highlights the cultural history of the host country.

"The most striking element of the emblem reimagines a football as a pearl, in recognition of one of Qatar's earliest industries," highlights the statement.

"The decoration of the iridescent sphere is inspired by mashrabiyas, traditional architectural elements found in residences across the Middle East," the statement adds.

The statement further describes the significance of the mashrabiya latticework, which like pearl diving, has deep roots within the region's heritage.

The delicate screens are both decorative and functional, serving the dual purpose of cooling homes and providing an elegant decoration both inside and outside.

The colors of the emblem have been carefully picked with a dominant burgundy outlook, reflecting the Qatari nation and the deep turquoise of Doha Bay.

"The striking pearl is held aloft by shapes reminiscent of sweeping desert sands and accented with diacritics, a fundamental element of the Arabic alphabet," the statement describes.

The 16th edition of the FIFA Club World Cup will kick off on December 11, 2019, and run until December 21.

In its current format featuring seven teams, the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 will consist of eight matches.

The semi-final of the tournament is set to take place at the Education City Stadium which will mark its official opening on December 18.

The matches will be played at three venues: Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium and Education City Stadium.

Five teams have qualified to-date including Al Sadd SC (host country representative), Liverpool FC (UEFA), CF Monterrey (CONCACAF), ES Tunis (CAF) and Hienghène Sport (OFC), while the AFC and CONMEBOL representatives will be confirmed in November.

According to SC, "the next milestone following today's emblem launch is the upcoming Visa pre-sale."

"Visa, the official payment services partner of FIFA, is the preferred payment method of the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019™. Visa is pleased to offer its cardholders exclusive access to purchase match tickets using a Visa card from Tuesday, 22 October at 2:00 PM Doha time until 31 October at 3:00 PM Doha time," the SC statement notes.
