Looking for free entertainment options in Qatar? Here’s what you can do

If you have no travel plans this summer, this is your chance to explore Qatar. Qatar has multiple indoor attractions such as theme parks, trampoline parks and indoor play areas for children amongst others.  

While most indoor attractions require an entrance fee, there are some that can be enjoyed for free. Make unforgettable memories this summer by visiting these places in Qatar that offer free entertainment for you and family.  

Enjoy a mesmerizing fountain show  

Qatar has several fountain features that make for a welcome delight during the summer months. While all fountains are free to visit and enjoy, the fountains at Porto Arabia and Place Vendôme Mall offer mesmerizing dancing fountain shows which include a range of animated projections and light features.  

The show at Porto Arabia takes place only on weekends from 6 pm – 11:30 pm while the show at Place Vendôme Mall takes place daily.  

What’s available: Dancing fountain and lights shows with animated projections  

Location: The Pearl Fountain, 1 La Croisette, Porto Arabia and Place Vendôme Mall  

Timings:  

  • The Pearl Fountain: 6 pm – 10  pm (every 30 mins) on weekends only  
  • Place Vendôme Mall: 11 am – 5 pm (every hour) and 6 pm – 11:30 pm (every half hour) daily 

Explore the Cave of Wonders 

Step into a realistic cave with carvings, glowing rocks, and bats hanging from ceilings! Climb and crawl as you explore the Cave of Wonders marveling at the architectural delight that replicates a real cave in every way.  

Located in the National Museum of Qatar, the Cave of Wonders is open daily for everyone.

Tour the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum 

Enjoy fun activities and exhibits that celebrate the sporting culture within Qatar and around the world as you marvel at the inspiring stories by world class athletes at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum. Get up close to legends from the sporting world as you explore the seven gallery spaces housing objects from around the world.  

What’s available: Seven gallery spaces housing objects from around the world, 3-2-1 gift shop, Naua Restaurant and 3-2-1 Café 

Location: Aspire Zone (Next to Khalifa International Stadium) 

Timings: 

  • Saturday–Thursday: 9am–7pm 
  • Fridays: 1.30–7pm 

Access: 

  • Free for citizens and residents of Qatar or GCC countries 
  • Free for children 16 and under 
  • All other adults: QAR 100

Have fun onboard a tram  

Tram rides are a fun and exciting way to explore a little city or town. Both Education City and Msheireb Downtown Doha offer free tram rides giving you the opportunity to relax and enjoy the attractions around you.  

To get on the tram, head to a tram stop and wait for the next available tram. Hop in and enjoy a little adventure with your friends and family.

  • Education City: 6 am – 10 pm 
  • Msheireb Downtown Doha: Daily: 10 am – 10 pm and Thursday – Saturday : 10 am – 11 pm 

Learn about the solar system at Al Thuraya Planetarium 

Gain invaluable insights about the world beyond you by making a visit to the Al Thuraya Planetarium. The planetarium has interactive exhibits and free shows for all ages. Check the website for show timings prior to visit.  

What’s available: Exhibits, interactive stations and free shows  

Location: Building 41, Katara Cultural Village 

Timings: 

Daily: 8 am – 10 pm

Make memories at Qur’anic Botanic Garden 

Located in the picturesque Education City, the Qur’anic Botanic Garden is an open oasis that has an instagram-worthy tunnel, fountain area and a garden blooming with plants mentioned in the Qur’an and the hadiths of the Prophet.  

The garden is an excellent place to take pictures, for little ones to play around the fountain and for you to gain some invaluable insights about plants mentioned in the Qur’an.
