Accidents, fires, emergencies, and unexpected situations can happen anywhere, at any time. Whether you are a resident or citizen or even visiting Qatar for the first time, there are a couple of important numbers you need to keep handy for emergencies. We suggest you save these on your phone and maybe even write them down in a handy pocket notebook (in case you lose your phone!), just in case.

Emergencies

For accidents, fire, police, ambulance, dial 999. Calling on this number connects you to an operator who listens to your concerns and they will help you out.

Emergency services are free of charge in Qatar for everyone including tourists and visitors. Services are available in English, Arabic, Urdu, French, and Chinese.

The worldwide emergency number is 112.

16000 unified helpline for healthcare services

Qatar has a unified helpline at 16000 for offering healthcare services 24/7. Here’s what you can access after dialling 16000 and choosing preferred language:

  • Consultation for non-critical health conditions: press 3 (HMC) > press 1 to talk to a hotline team member.
  • Home delivery of medicines from HMC: press 3 (HMC) > press 2 for medicine delivery.
  • Mental health hotline: press 4 for mental health consultation.
  • COVID-19 queries: press 1 > press 2 to talk to the team.
  • Medical consultation for home-isolated patients: press 1 > press 3 to talk to a physician.
  • Validation of COVID-19 vaccine received abroad: press 1 > press 1 again to talk to the team. 

Emergency numbers for the deaf

Those who are deaf or have any sort of hearing disability can call 992 through video call or send an SMS on the same number sharing their name, location, and request for required service (ambulance, police, fire rescue, accident). 

Mental health services

Hamad Hospital’s mental health helpline (7 am to 3 pm) is available when you choose option 4 after dialing 16000.

Weyak is another free tele-counseling service available on weekdays from 9-12 am. The service is available in multiple common languages including English, Hindi, Arabic, Malayalam, Urdu, etc.  Dial 44878766/99.

Government Contact Center

Qatar residents, citizens, companies, and visitors can enquire about government information or complain about an e-service by contacting the Government Contact Center (Hukoomi) at 109 or 4406 9999. 

Road and traffic emergencies

While the traffic and patrol department comes under law enforcement, you can call the other numbers for any issues relating to car lockout, vehicle towing, fuel refills, battery replacement, flat tire, jumpstart, and other roadside assistance.
