Ever since the recent successful release of 26 Qatari citizens, abducted while on a hunting trip in Iraq, the country’s top authorities have been receiving numerous well wishes from all around the world.

The Peninsula reported that the United Nation’s Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the release and safe return of Qatari citizens to the country. In a brief statement, the UN chief expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the safe release.

The Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) welcomed the release of the hostages. GCC Secretary-General Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani extended congratulations to HH the Emir, government and people of Qatar, according to Gulf Times.

Meanwhile, the Arab League also welcomed the release of Qatari citizens and extended their well wishes to the country.

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr Yousef Al Othaimeen said he was happy with the safe return of Qatari hostages to their homeland.

 “The OIC had kept close watch of the humanitarian issue and issued several resolutions and statements in this regard. The OIC denounced the kidnapping of Qatari nationals as a shameful act that contravenes the values of noble Islam and the international laws," Dr Al Othaimeen said in a statement.

Khaleej Times reported that the UAE welcomed the release of hostages after long period of captivity.

In a statement, UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, conveyed his greetings to the leadership and people of Qatar.

 “The abduction of Qatari and Saudi citizens was an uncalled for act and the ordeal they went through is a reflection of the looming tension in the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation congratulates the brotherly State of Qatar and expresses relief that their ordeal is over,” he said.

“The terrorism in the region feeds on chaos and instability,” he added.
