The eighth Traditional Dhow Festival, which is currently underway at the Katara Cultural Village, will see some spectacular fireworks tonight and tomorrow.
We visited the festival this past friday, and you can watch out video here:
The fireworks show, which will be based on maritime traditions, will be a major highlight of the festival, reported The Peninsula.
Visitors at Katara will be able to view the spectacular fireworks between 8pm and 8.20pm tonight.
“It isn’t a normal fireworks show. It’s woven around a theme that tells the story of fishing, diving and fighting in the sea,” Jihad Al Jaida, a member of the organising committee, was quoted as saying by The Peninsula.

The Traditional Dhow Festival has been a huge hit with children and adults alike. A large number of schoolchildren thronged the Katara beach yesterday morning to have a feel of the sea-related customs and traditions showcased in a variety of stalls and exhibitions.
They also took part in painting and drawing competitions at the Katara beach. One of the dhows anchored at the beach is offering free cruise for children, according to Qatar Tribune.
More than 70 traditional dhows and vessels of different types have been anchored at the Katara beach for the five-day Festival. Fateh Al Khair, the famous Qatari dhow has put up a painting exhibition for visitors.
“This time we’ve designed the marina in a U-shape so that everyone can see the dhows from any place in the beach,” said an official.
An exhibition dedicated to famous Qatari artist Yusuf Al Sada has also been set up on the sidelines of the Festival. The exhibition features around 200 photographs of Al Sada, along with artworks and crafts related to sea traditions.
There are also traditional markets for marine products, stalls of participating nations showcasing cuisine and sea traditions, traditional maritime competitions and shows, art contest and a cultural cafe.
