TotalEnergies staff had the opportunity to attend a tree planting event alongside the Ministry of Municipality – supporting Qatar's efforts to environmental sustainability.
The event held in Al Legtaifiya Park, West Bay, helps Qatar keep the pledge of planting one million trees before the launch of the FIFA World Cup this winter – becoming the first-ever carbon-neutral tournament.
Matthieu Bouyer, Managing Director TotalEnergies EP Qatar and Country Chair, said: “We are delighted to work with the Ministry of Municipality for this initiative to enrich the biodiversity in Qatar through actions such as planting trees, that contribute to reducing emissions and to make the FIFA World Cup 2022 Net Zero.”
“Sustainability is at the heart of our strategy and operations, and this initiative is in line with our biodiversity and climate CSR pillar. We are conducting many initiatives and research programs in Qatar in multiple domains such as marine life preservation, emission reductions, and carbon capture," he added.
Khaled Ahmed Al-Sindi, Head of Projects Department at the Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality said: “The Ministry of Municipality is happy to work on these projects with recognized partners such as TotalEnergies, who are helping contribute to local development, and to reach the target of planting 1 million trees."
