Fashioning an Empire: Textiles from Safavid Iran
This captivating exhibition sheds light on silk's vital role during the Safavid period (1501–1736 CE) and is organized into four sections: the silk monopoly and state manufacturing, Isfahan's rise as an imperial capital, Safavid fashion and trends, and contemporary commissions by local designers inspired by Safavid textiles.
