On October 18th, Qatar Museums will present a retrospective of the work of Luc Tuymans, the first solo show of the artist in the Gulf region.

The exhibition, Intolerance, a comprehensive survey of the artist’s work, will include a series of wall paintings and a new body of work, ‘The Arena’, created specifically for the show. Curated by Lynne Cooke, Senior Curator of Special Projects in Modern Art at the National Gallery of Art Washington, the exhibition will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue edited by Lynne Cooke and Tommy Simoens.

Belgian artist Luc Tuymans (b. 1958) is one of the key figures of a new generation of figurative painters, widely credited with having contributed to the revival of painting in the 1990s and recognised as one of the most important living painters today.
