Mata Mata: Stories About Football, Dreams and Life
Doha Film Institute will showcase a Brazilian football documentary this week as part of its cinematic celebration of Qatar-Brazil Year of Culture 2014.
Mata Mata: Stories About Football, Dreams and Life will screen on Wednesday and Thursday at 7pm at Museum of Islamic Art Auditorium.
Mata Mata is the Brazilian term for a ‘knockout match’: A do-or-die, win-or-go-home battle — sometimes a metaphor for life.
The film chronicles ups and downs in the lives of talented young Brazilian players in their pursuit of success.
Brazil is the largest exporter of football players worldwide and the film gives viewers an insight into how a football star is born.
The Brazil Cinema Showcase is presented by DFI each month in partnership with Qatar Museums.
The Ajyal Youth Film Festival on December 1-6 will feature the final instalment of the Brazilian showcase during a special event dedicated to the Year of Culture celebrations.
Tickets are priced at QR35 for adults and QAR25 for students on presenting valid student ID.
Tickets can be purchased at Museum of Islamic Art DFI ticket outlet, across MIA Auditorium or online here: www.dohafilminstitute.com
