Akram is an internationally known advocate for disability rights. She founded Muscular Dystrophy Qatar to raise awareness of the condition.
Born in Doha, Akram was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at age six, and was featured on the BBC’s 100 Women programme in 2017, thanks to her inspirational, impactful efforts.
