Appeal for Reduction of Fine and Release from Jail
I am writing to on behalf of my father, who is currently detained in in Qatar. My father was working as a house driver in Qatar and due to his lack of formal education, he was unable to pass the computer tests required to obtain a driving license.
Unfortunately, while driving as instructed by his sponsor, my father was involved in an incident where he stopped at a traffic signal and was hit from behind by another vehicle. The police arrived at the scene and issued a fine of QAR 10,000 for driving without a license. My father was unaware of the fine due to his limited literacy and language barriers.
Upon attempting to return to India, my father was detained and informed about the outstanding fine. I understand the importance of adhering to legal requirements, however, my father's situation was a result of following his sponsor's instructions and a lack of proper guidance. His sponsor assured him that he would be responsible if anything happened, but unfortunately, the sponsor is now unwilling to assist.
