Was dreading this day.
One thing I did not want to try out here was the dentist's.
No offence to any dentists on this forum but it can't be helped. I have an unreasonable fear of the dentist's and it doesn't help being in a foreign country!
Can anyone recommend a good reliable dentist to whom I won't have to give up my entire savings?

Dr. Susan George is probably one of the worst doctors I've come across.

Her treatments are expensive. Registration costs Qr25, Teeth cleaning costs Qr200 (and extra Qr100 for additional sittings). Bleaching (Teeth whitening) costs Qr1000 & above.

Moreover, she isn't the friendliest of persons. Go in for consultation to her, and she treats you like a third-class patient. In other words, her attitude is like - "Take it, or get lost." Doesn't act like a professional.

She is, however, quite qualified (MDS). But, I believe qualifications aren't enough. A doctor needs to build a good rapport by enlightening the patient about the ailment and possible treatments. From my experience, she doesn't have this quality.

Thanks alot guys. It's comforting to know i have some places to turn to in my darkest hour!

At the moment the pain seems to have subsided somewhat so I'm going to bear it out for a few more days.

but if push comes to pull, I guess I might be writing our resident dentist an e-mail!

Dr Susan George, and Dr Susan (no relation and less pretty), both near the Sofitel, are OK. I used one happily and heard good reports of the other. Ridiculously cheap by Western standards, but modern and adequately equipped.

I've heard the Hamad clinic is good, and possibly free, but there's a huge waiting list.

Try Dr. Mohammed Al-Said. He is an orthodontist who trained in Germany but does other work. I found him to be a good dentist.

I understand your fear of dentists.

"Sorry i don't mean to offend you but i HATE dentists"...this is the first comment I ever hear from everyone once I reveal my profession!!!!

Don't worry...dentists never get offended when their patients reveal their fears and vent their apprehension...it makes it more of a tight trustworthy patient-doctor relationship.

ANyways, regarding your problem...I would be glad to help if you don't want to go to private clinics, I work with HMC and I can see you if you want....it's only a few pennies fees that you have to pay.

Just drop me a line on dentical75@yahoo.com with your contact details and I will let you know what you need to do.

Best regards,
