My husband was a victim of an accident yesterday. After he got the police report he directly went to QIIC with a preferred garage. Upon reaching the counter, he told the staff that he has a preferred garage. According to the staff, it is not possible since that garage is not in their accredited garages. My hubby insisted and thE staff got pissed and told him to just go and get the money. The staff called one person from a certain garage and "asked him" to price our damage.. then they spoke in Arabic and after that the garage guy told us QAR1000. If you can see the damage, it is obviously not QAR1000 only. We did not agree. My hubby then went to our preferred garage and took quotation and we were given QAR1500 (not original parts).. He then went to another garage for comparison and got a rate of QAR2500. Surprisingly, when my hubby returned back to our preferred garage in the afternoon the owner told him that he got a referral from QIIC so how come they've informed my hubby in the morning that this garage is not an accredited one? Obviously something is fishy here.. The owner took our papers and volunteered to go to the insurance company today to get the papers signed. This morning, the agent might have remembered our case so he insisted that they will pay only QAR1000. According to him we will pay any difference beyond QAR1000 which is truly unacceptable since we already agreed to use the duplicate parts inorder not to pay anything.. He really wants to leave us with no choice but to go ahead with the other garage which he prefers, why? not sure of his reason..
I heard from other people that agents are at times pushing their preferred garages because they have commission there.. I don't know how true is that..
I really would want to stick with my preferred garage since it has been referred by plenty of my friends who have a very good experience with them.. Besides this garage has promised us that they will give us back the car after 1 to 2days maximum - on time before we leave the country for vacation..
Can I bargain this matter with any higher authorities at QIIC? Any person/number to contact?! We don't want to speak to their counter agents anymore.

I don't think you will be able to achieve much by approaching the higher authorities. Since you have had an unpleasant experience with this company, you may look around and insure your car the next time with another insurance company with a good reputation. I am sure there are several in the market. When our car was hit, the insurance company did give us a choice to name a workshop. As for the commission part, it is anybody's guess.
** yesterday morning,a QIIC staff told my hubby that our preferred garage is not a part of their accredited garages.. when he came back to our preferred garage in the afternoon he was told that QIIC sent one car from another victim to their garage for repairs.. This clearly means that what the agent told us in the morning is untrue so I really would want to raise this matter to the management of QIIC and let them cover the full amount of the damage..
