Team Dohalicious from Qatar Living was offered an exclusive opportunity to sit and chat with a legendary artist, Carlos El Rumbero from the Gipsy King Family, who has gained global acclaim for his highly captivating music.
Renowned singer of flamenco and gypsy rumba, has been connected with Gipsy Kings and Los Reyes, the two bands who rose to fame with songs such as Bamboleo, Djobi, Djoba, Baila Me, Bem Bem Ma and La Lumba de Nicolas.
In the early 90s, Carlos along with his cousins performed at some of the most exclusive and VIP events for prominent families such as the Rothschild family. He also served as the protagonist at these major events, and even sang for King Juan Carlos of Spain.
For this vivacious and passionate artist, music is life! It is what keeps him going and has been the reason he has been on the go – traveling across the globe – to give people a taste of his music.
He says, this is what serves as the essence of his ‘gypsy’ lifestyle.
With biological roots in India, Carlos’ family moved to Europe from where he traversed different countries to enrich his music with different ethnic flavors.
A dear old friend, who he met through his music, served as the reason for his visit to Doha.
