WATCH: South Indian International Movie Awards bedazzle Doha audience
Qatar recently hosted one of the biggest and most popular award shows in the Indian film industry, the eight South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) 2019.
The highly prestigious show recognizes film stars, artists, and movies across four languages: Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The star-studded event was held under the India-Qatar Year of Culture, showcasing at least a 100 awards in 50 categories over a fascinating two-day program.
Held at the Lusail Sports Arena, SIIMA convened some of the biggest names in South Indian cinema under one roof.
Indian ambassador P Kumaran and his Sri Lankan counterpart Kithsiri Athulathmudali were among the other dignitaries who graced the occasion.
The event offered a stunning spectacle to Doha audiences who were left dazzled with some mesmerizing stage performances.
Among some of the winners honored yesterday were:
Dhanush for Vada Chennai who was presented the Best Actor (Tamil) for the year 2019 award.
Trisha who won the Best Actress (Tamil) for the year 2019 for her film 96.
SIIMA, which is held outside India, aims to introduce a wider audience to South Indian cinema, continuing to build upon the ever-widening popularity of Indian cinema.
