Jotun inaugurates a new 20 million litres production facility in Qatar

A world-renowned paint and coatings manufacturer inaugurated a new production facility in the New Industrial Area of Doha, Qatar. The factory is equipped to produce up to 20 million liters of waterborne paints each year. In the next five years, Jotun plans to invest heavily in Qatar, beginning with this new factory. There will be a total of 40 employees at the new factory.
Designed for maximum manufacturing capacity and product innovation, the facility provides high quality paint solutions to the State of Qatar. It comprises multiple departments including production, quality control, raw material warehouses, and administrative offices, all built in compliance with the highest HSEQ standards. Automation is a high priority in the infrastructure, which boasts energy efficient mixing equipment, fully automatic filling lines, and automatic dispensing systems.
The factory supports Jotun's GreenSteps initiative for improving environmental performance. To meet its sustainability goals, the facility features an energy-efficient lighting system, furniture made of recycled materials, and more than 80% of its waste is recyclable. Additionally, innovative powder handling systems have been implemented in order to keep the factory and its surroundings dust-free.
As part of Jotun's values, a safe and healthy work environment has been implemented at the new location by installing fully air-conditioned paint processing and filling areas. Moreover, the forklifts for operators are air-conditioned to ensure their safety in extreme heat.
As Morten Fon stated, “Jotun has been represented in Qatar for almost 40 years and demand for our products continues to increase. In accordance with Jotun's organic growth strategy, we are building the business stone by stone, and now is the time to establish our own production in the country.”
With the inauguration of the factory, Jotun completed phase 1 of its investment in Qatar. As part of phase 2, work has begun on a new warehouse designed to hold finished goods (paints, powder coatings). Jotun HSE standard warehouse, with a storage capacity of 20 million liters, will begin operating in December 2022. Jotun's decision to invest in Qatar reflects the company's commitment and belief in Qatar National Vision 2030 - with a major role in Qatar's quest to become self-sufficient.
Shovan Das, General Manager, Jotun Paints Qatar W.L.L. said: “Jotun is proud of this milestone. The development of this production facility will enable us to better serve our growing network of dealers and diverse customer base of developers, consultants, architects and contracting companies."
