Qatar Awarded Opening Race of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship
The 2024 MotoGP calendar has been announced and the World Championship is all set to take place. The opener for the 2024 MotoGP season is set to return to Lusail International Circuit (LIC), and the action will kick off under the flood lights on March 10th, 2024, after an announcement of the provisional schedule from the sport’s global governing body, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).
LIC has a long history of staging the opening race of the season but was unable to do so this year, due to remodeling work taking place at the circuit ahead of the return of F1 racing to the track on the weekend of October 6-8, 2023.
That led to this year’s Qatar MotoGP, sponsored by Qatar Airways, being awarded the penultimate race of the 2023 season, taking place from November 17-19, with the season reaching its conclusion in Valencia a week later.
But a return to tradition will see Qatar host the 2024 opener on March 10, 2024. Qatar, which first staged the MotoGP from 2004.
Tickets for this year’s MotoGP Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar are available from tickets.lcsc.qa.
