Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten celebrates the first anniversary of Curiosa by Jean-Georges
Curiosa by Jean-Georges has been sating the appetites and curiosity of Doha’s diners since opening one year ago with the flavours, spirit and energy of Latin America.
The restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel Doha has big plans to celebrate its first birthday, including a visit from Jean-Georges Vongerichten himself, the Chef behind the restaurant’s concept and crowd-pleasing cuisine, who will be taking over the kitchen at Curiosa for one very special masterclass on September 23, talking food enthusiasm, exploring new culinary ideas with the guests, and introducing the new globally inspired dishes that will be added to the menu.
Renowned Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has over 60 restaurants worldwide in 13 countries, amassing a global following. His cuisine defies labels, traversing everything from French to Asian to Latin American, and always reflects Vongerichten’s love of veering away from the traditional use of ingredients and instead focusing on the innovative.
It’s no different at Curiosa, where ceviches come with flavours of banana, pistachio and crunchy rice, spicy beef empanadas feature celery root and tomato salsa, and roasted mushroom tacos are given an intriguing twist with the addition of sour cherry mole and kale slaw.
Since its opening just one year ago, Curiosa by Jean-Georges has already become a Doha favourite, drawing diners with its lively mix of punchy flavours, creative beverages, and its ever-popular weekend brunch. The convivial indoor setting, with hacienda-style décor, pops of bold colours and cheerful mosaics, is complemented by a large outdoor terrace where hanging plants offer bursts of greenery and warm breezes off the Arabian Sea ignite the mood and the appetite.
Executive Chef Edgar Hurtado brings the originality and culinary style of his Peruvian heritage to Curiosa, where he focuses on creating the perfect blend of textures, colours and flavours. And it’s in the large open kitchen where the real culinary magic happens, with Hurtado and team slicing, dicing and spicing, combining Latin American ingredients like tamarind, guajillo, serrano chilli and aji amarillo with the freshest produce and the occasional touch of the Middle East, like turmeric tahini, zaatar and date molasses, in the perfect tribute to the multicultural city in which it makes its home.
In honour of its first birthday, Curiosa will be adding new internationally inspired items to the menu, including a tangy Tomato, Mango and Avocado Salad, tasty Black Truffle Flat Bread with fontina cheese, and more.
“We’re very excited to be welcoming Jean-Georges back to the kitchen at Curiosa,” says Hurtado. “The new dishes are going to be exciting additions to the menu, including his famous beef burger with avocado and the new flatbreads with playful flavours.”
