Bubble Tea, also known as Boba Tea, is a fun drink that originated in Taiwan in the 1980s. It's a mix of iced tea and sweetened tapioca pearls. The idea came about when someone combined tea with a traditional dessert, and it turned out to be a hit! Since then, it's spread worldwide and has many variations. It's sweet, can be milky or fruity, and has chewy pearls in different flavours like mango, strawberry, and more.

As for where to try it, you'll find Bubble Tea in various cafes and shops around Doha. If you're new to it, there are three top tea shops worth checking out!

Go-Ssip Bubble Milk Tea 

Go-Ssip, a well-loved independent Bubble Tea spot in Doha, has been growing steadily in popularity since it started three years ago. Now, they have six outlets around the city, including kiosks at Monoprix supermarkets and cafes at various malls. You can spot them easily with their cute Bubble Tea models, smiling logos on cups, and plushies in their venues.

Their menu is packed with delicious choices like Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Taro Milk Tea, Thai Milk Tea, Oreo Milk Tea, and more. Some of their top picks are the Taiwanese Brown Sugar Milk Tea with tapioca pearls, konjac, and cream cheese foam topping, as well as the indulgent Oreo Bubble Milk Tea with Custard Cream.

Tabi Boba Bubble Tea 

Tabi Boba, another popular Bubble Tea brand in Doha, has eight stores across the city. They've got six kiosks in places like the city centre, Msheireb, Katara, The Pearl, Al Wakrah, and Umm Salal, and two cafes in Al Sadd and Al Mansoura. They serve Onezo tea, made from imported Taiwanese ingredients, offering sixteen flavours.

Their kiosks are more of a grab-and-go style, but the cafes are where the fun happens! You can sip your Bubble Tea while enjoying karaoke or playing darts. The karaoke rooms fit groups of up to five, and if you buy four drinks, you get an hour of karaoke. And if you're done singing, they've got game rooms with Darts Live for some electronic dart action against people worldwide. The menu at Tabi Boba is vast! They've got an Original Bubble Tea Selection with teas like Assam, Jasmine, Earl Grey, and fruit flavours. Tiger Sugar 

Tiger Sugar Qatar is a newcomer to Doha's Bubble Tea scene, since its arrival in 2022. Despite being new in town, this café is part of a chain that started in Taiwan in 2017 and quickly gained global popularity. The original drink that made them famous, the Black Sugar Bubble Tea, is still a highlight on their menu. It's made with caramelized sugar, fresh cream, iced tea, and black tapioca pearls, boasting those famous tiger stripes of caramel inside each cup. They take pride in an 8-hour cooking process for their sugar syrup and pearls, giving their drinks a unique toasty, nutty flavour.

Situated in Downtown Msheireb, the café might be small but fits in perfectly with modern décor and a cool vibe. You can try variations of the original drink like coffee flavours, jellies instead of pearls, or milk instead of cream from the Black Sugar Series. They've got other series too, like the Tiger Cheese Mousse, Tea Latte, and Taro Series, offering Bubble Tea made with Taro milk.
