HBKU introduces eight new academic programs
Enhancing the variety of educational opportunities available to students in Qatar and across the world, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) yesterday launched eight new programs across six of its colleges.
The announcement came during a special launch ceremony held at Multaqa (Education City Student Center).

The eight new programs that will commence from September this year include the following:
Master of Arts in Applied Islamic Ethics at the College of Islamic Studies (CIS),
PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS),
Master of Science in Exercise Science at the College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS),
Master of Public Policy offered by the College of Public Policy (CPP), HBKU’s newly-inaugurated college,
Master of Information Systems in Health Management, Master of Science in Sport and Entertainment Management at the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) and
Master of Laws in International Law and Foreign Affairs and Master of Laws in International Economic and Business Law offered at the College of Law (CL).
Dean of CIS, Dr Emad El-Din Shahin delivered the opening address followed by Dr Amal Mohammed Al-Malki, founding dean of CHSS. Other speakers at the event included, Dr Mounir Hamdi, founding dean of CSE, Dr Susan L. Karamanian, dean of CL, and Dr Edward L Stuenkel, founding dean of CHLS.
“We are launching a PhD program which is the biggest from the college so far. It is the first of its kind in Qatar and one of the very few programs that exist in the world,” Dr Al-Malki is quoted to have said by Gulf Times.
“It is a student-centric program and moreover it is an interdisciplinary program. We have also considered the local, regional and international demands while launching this program as the academia is changing rapidly,” she added further.
The new programs at HBKU have been carefully designed keeping current and future trends in view and aim to equip students with specialized skills required to meet the demands of local and international job markets.
