
HBKU researchers and faculty recognized in the top two percent of most-cited scientists globally

The new global lists compiled by Stanford University, USA, indicated that faculty members and researchers at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) are among the top 2 percent of the world’s most-cited scientists.
Dr. Mounir Hamdi, founding dean of CSE; Dr. Roberto Di Pietro, professor of cybersecurity; Dr. Gordon McKay, founding professor of sustainable development; Dr. Muammer Koc, founding professor and program coordinator of CSE’s sustainability division; Dr. Amine Bermak, founding professor of ICT and associate dean; and Dr. Abdesselam Bouzerdoum, professor of ICT were the six recognized faculty members from HBKU’s College of Science and Engineering.
Moreover, researchers at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, Qatar Biomedical Research Institute, and the Qatar Computing Research Institute were also featured on the global list.
The Stanford University team analyzed millions of scientists worldwide, combining several metrics to systematically rank the most influential by scientific field, as measured by citations. The prestigious database has been published in the PLOS Biology journal.
