Horrible Experience at Dr. Khudsia Clinic...

By VANMOST

Hi All:

I wanna share something which was happened to us few day ago. Someone suggested my wife that Dr. Khudsia is the best Gyne Doctor in Doha (her clinic is near to Al Waab intersection). We went to her clinic for appointment, the lady on receptionist said that we give appointment from 4 to 8pm so come today.

Next day I went at 5pm and got appointment # 25. I asked her that how much it will be taken, she said that you can come after 1 hour. I dropped my wife at her clinic.

After two hours, my wife called me that they have no system, they are entertaining emergency cases first. I said, okay no problem if they are dealing emergency cases. My wife told me that if someone pays them more fee, they consider it emergency case and give precedence over other. She protested several times that this is not fair how you are dealing your patients. Receptionist replied her very rudely that you can also get precedence if you play more.

Moreover, they have no hygienic arrangements over there. They have only one small room for all women. It was pathetic indeed.

My wife atlast demanded her fee back after 3 hours without showing doctor because still they were entertaining so called emergency cases.

I don't know about doctor's skill or fame but she has very bad arrangements at her clinic which shows that for her only money matters....

It is sad indeed.....

It will be good that someone make list of greedy doctors with no symphaty. so all Doha residences can aware of them. All of us spend a lot of money and get bad service. Don't they shame for this?

"I came in to make an appointment with the dentist Gadarene." said the man to the receptionist." "I'm sorry sir." she replied. "He's out right now, but..." "Thank you." interrupted the obviously nervous prospective patient. "When will he be out again ?"

@ a private practice, the doctor is responsible for EVERY aspect of the practice...to say the doctor is good but receptionist is bad doesn't make sense...the doctor is responsible for the conduct & professionalism of ALL of his/her staff...

@ Angelina, the standards are set by the health authority of the respective country & it's upto the same authority to ensure standards are maintained...however the problem in this instance is more because of a lack of choice, which is pretty much the story in this town for most things...to illustrate, people were always complaining about Qtel, how their international calling rates were daylight robbery, how their customer service was non-existant etc...notice how Vodafone's entry into the market, partial entry @ that, has seen a very different Qtel emerge, now one has 0.29dhs/min. calling rates, super prompt service on giving a complaint(personally experienced this & was pleasantly surprised!) etc...it's the same story here, this Dr. knows she's good & has created a reputation for herself & knows that people will put up with whatever she dishes out in terms of customer service simply because, they don't have a choice, just so we're clear,i think that's deplorable to say the least,i'm guessing she missed out on the morals & ethics classes in med. school...

As I told that if doctor has no system for her patients, sorry to say I have a doubt on her professionalism.

Again I will say that who is the owner of that clinic? Who will guide and set standards for her receptionist.

If you are a cloth manufacturer and if sold defective consignment in the market, no one blame your quality control or production department but curse your brand name or you.

"Asian doctors now form nearly thirty percent of the workforce of the NHS. For the past 40 years, South Asian doctors have provided the backbone of the NHS caring for some of the most deprived communities in some of the most vital medical roles. Most were never able to fulfil their career aspirations and ended up working in the 'Cinderella services' of the NHS - mental health, learning disability, general practice and unpopular medical and surgical specialties. Although the NHS is seen as a peculiarly British institution, embodying the values of community and fairness, the contribution of Asian doctors to the NHS has never been acknowledged. It is only now as they collectively approach retirement that the contribution that they have made is being recognised."..copied & pasted from my link...paragraph no:6...you have to actually read the article to find the statistics mentioned or did you think the link was going to be a one line sentence in capital letters with the statistics mentioned?...this isn't primary school reading,it's a medical news site but of course you know that because you've placed a link from the same site as your proof right?...now if you would be so kind as to copy & paste the portion of your link which you claim is your proof, just as i have above,i would appreciate it...please & thankyou...

@ Keeley, erm we're talking about Asian doctors in the NHS not about a staph. infection which has nothing to do with the topic whatsoever...simply going to the same site i quoted from & picking a random page & posting it as a link isn't what i asked for...so if you have something concrete, bring it on...otherwise you're wasting time...both yours & mine...

Till now I liked Doha Clinic system, at least you know that how much time left for your turn but what if you waiting for your turn and someone else come and take your turn just for few additional riyals. Then it means the people that cannot afford higher fee, never see the doc because it is Qatar dude.... Qatari will always take ur turn by paying higher fee. This practice couldn't be appreciable..... otherwise there will be a disaster in the society...

therefor I said I wait at Hamad Hospital for the same amount of time but free of charge better than paying for it.

and I am happy with the Gyne Doctor over there.

Try Dr. Omar Clinic. he is good too & you don't wait that much. and they go by numbers & you pay after you are done with the consult.

husbands are allowed in for the whole exam/consult. consult includes: ultrasound, written report, photos on CD & Urine test is about 300QR.

Hi All,

The waiting experience was terrible for me too in Khudisia's clinic. I had consulted Dr. Khudusiya for my 2nd pregnancy. The dr was good. She was in Al- Saad area at that time. When I got pregnnant agian I tried her new clinic in Al-Waab. It was terrible. So I switched to Al- Ahli Dr.Sujatha. She is very good & I could see her on time of appointmaent itself. I suggest if you cannot afford delivery in Al- Ahli you can go To Hamad & if you want the pregnancy care go to Dr.Sujatcha in Al- Ahli. The pregnancy care in Hamad is not that good as Al-Ahli. I ahd experience in both hospitals. I deliverd one in Hamad & one in Al Ahli in 2years gap. If you want to see a dr, need to be there in Women's clinic by 7:00AM. I think the things will chane with the new appointment system.

@ jackmohan, a lot of Indian/South Asian doctors/dentists i'm sorry to say do lack people skills simply because it's not something that's taught or even advised in medical/dental school...the ones that realize it pick up these skills during practice but many don't & therein lies the problem...a Brit-Indian colleague of mine who studied with me in India then went back home to practice in London failed his lisencing exam the 1st time despite getting everything right & when he received his report, the reason was given as not appropriately greeting/interacting with the patient before starting treatment...it's something we South Asian doctors lack but fortunately things are changing slowly but surely...

I just recalled a case about my dentist in Mumbai, India, (the guy was a very friendly person, and explained everything throughly, and also knew his job well). The guy used to see about 100 people every day! And he was very fast also.

I, myself have recommended him to 7 to 8 of my friends and they too were very impressed with him.

So when I was with him doing my root canal one of his colleague a very pretty female dentist comes in and cribs about how few clients (only about 5 to 10 clients per day) she has and how come he is able to attract so many. He had no answer. Looked like she was even jealous of him. But then I realised that the female though pretty was quite unfriendly and just wanted to get the job finished with. Interacting with people was just not her forte.

Kudisia's Clinic reminded me of her.

It is very bad but thanks for informing us by the way you should talk to Dr. Khudsia,

najamss..if you are No 25 at any clinic in Doha ...then you are in for a long haul.

It looks like the "Begum" has her rule ...ie if its normal visit you Pay the normal fee but if you want to make it urgent (and go home fast) you pay Qr200. Looks fair enough.

I have been there and the wait is toooo loooong. (Cant the lady hire some junior docs for the smaller cases?). Its crazy and gets on your nerves......

And as a rule if the working time is 4-8 you better be there at 3.30.

And about the Doc in question. She is average. Looks like she knows her job but other than that nothing Great.

But then the "Best Doctors" usually have very good "People's skill" and are very friendly. I feel Kudisia doesnt have that.

gadarene or sandeepkadian, You cannot escape acknowledging the fact that your life has been and is full with inferiority complex. Being an odorous Indian and poor communication are the governing factors. You are always concerned with grammar. Expecting people to be always grammatically correct on a forum like QL is not only undesirable but is also totally unwarranted.

Your real solution is a recognition that you are an odorous Indian possessed of inferiority complex, poor grammar and grammar obsession.

You are against Drywood for an obvious reason. You have a problem with Jackfrost because he stated a fact about you being smelly and unhygienic. You have a problem with me for above two reasons. We all can see a comprehensible logic behind your mental disorders.

You can improve your grammar. What you need is a good teacher (another smelly Indian but good in English) and a good learning ability. Maybe it is too late, but you should give it a try.

Your first lesson: Consider using semicolon and colon instead of dots.

@ najamss,no worries mate!...you're welcome...if you base your complaint on the difference in price, the authorities @ the ministry or the Supreme Council of Health as its now called will tell you that it's a private practice & there are no laws regulating charges & the doctor is free to charge as he/she wishes hence my suggestion of the hygiene factor...also,is there a price list on display on the premises for the patients to see that shows the charges including the "extra for emergency"? if it isn't,mention that as well in your complaint as there is a law which states that the clinic must have a price list on display for patients to see...

Let me say some more words regarding this post:

I don't care about Doctor's fame and his/her skills and knowledge if he/she doesn't care about his/her patients.. If she has a good name in the city (as I am told by some people) and she is earning good as well (I guess), Can't she devise any system for her patients? Can't she increase the number of waiting rooms?

I am planning to complaint in Health Ministry so that they come and see the environment how the patients are being treated.... I have no problem with high or cheap consultation fee but discrimination is not bearable...... U can go to any private clinic including Doha Clinic or Emadi Hospital... There is only one fix fee, thats it... and they have separate deptt for emergencies where appointment is not needed........ Well if she has no emergency deptt or room, no problem, she can see them while others are waiting for their turn... but if someone come and pay QR200 instead of QR125, that patient will be given precedence, no one can spare it....

Now the question is this that why people are still going to her because maybe she is charging less than market, she is good in her treatment or diagnosing, people do not have courage to complaint about her on proper platform, or maybe there is a difficult process of lodging complaint but if you don't treat your patients well outside of your room, I will say it, blackmailing......

But I am not one of them.... I will go in Health Ministry.... I have no problem with her personally... I neva met her...... I have only concerns about the environment of her clinic. This is what I will state in my complaint as well..... Insha Allah.....

Keeley found this on wikipedia, maybe it helps...

Mate (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈmate]), also known as chimarrão (Portuguese: [ʃimaˈxɐ̃ũ]) or cimarrón, is a traditional South American infused drink. It is prepared from steeping dried leaves of yerba mate (llex paraguariensis, known in Portuguese as erva mate) in hot water. It is the national drink in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, and drinking it is a common social practice in parts of Brazil, Chile, eastern Bolivia, Lebanon and Syria. In Brazil, it is considered to be a tradition typical of the “Gaúchos”, name given to those born in Rio Grande do Sul. The drink contains caffeine[1] and has a pungent taste like a cross between green tea and coffee, with hints of tobacco and oak.

Mate is served with a metal straw from a shared hollow calabash gourd. The straw is called a bombilla in Latin American Spanish, a bomba in Portuguese, and a masassa in Arabic. The straw is traditionally made of silver. Modern commercially available straws are typically made of nickel silver, called Alpaca, stainless steel, or hollow-stemmed cane. The gourd is known as a mate or a guampa, while in Brazil it has the specific name of chimarrão or cuia. Even if the water comes in a very modern thermos, the infusion is traditionally drunk from mates or cuias. However, "tea-bag" type infusions of mate (mate cocido) have been on the market in Argentina for many years under such trade names as "Cruz de Malta" and in Brazil under the name "Mate Leão".

As with other brewed herbs, yerba mate leaves are dried, chopped, and ground into a powdery mixture called yerba. The bombilla acts as both a straw and a sieve. The submerged end is flared, with small holes or slots that allow the brewed liquid in, but block the chunky matter that makes up much of the mixture. A modern bombilla design uses a straight tube with holes, or spring sleeve to act as a sieve.

@ najamss,i thought i made it clear in my post mate but since you don't seem to have seen that, let me repeat myself, it's WRONG to do this "skip the line for a higher fee" practice,it's unethical for a doctor to be practicing in this way but fortunately for the doctor & unfortunately for the patients, like yourself & your family, she is not breaking any laws in Qatar simply because there is no law against this sort of practice...legislation of this sort is in it's infancy in this country since the authorities themselves are basically unaware...the way this lady practices is basically WRONG so i hope you understand that i FULLY agree with you on this...goodluck with your complaint to the ministry of health,as a doctor that deals with them on a regular basis, your complaint on this matter won't amount to much, here's a tip mate,i've never been to her clinic, don't have the need to go there, but if you find anything unhygienic @ her clinic, focus on that in your complaint, the authorities will definitely send someone to check on it & take appropriate action...good luck...

same as what happened to me najamms..i called them first if i can arrange my appoinment but the receptionist said no need for appointment just drop in and then i came there at 3:30 pm and i`m the earliest, and then the receptionist gave me the number 12 i can`t believe she gave me number 12 to think that i came first,,and u know what,i waited for almost 3 hours till they call my name,i can`t believe that i came very early and it took 3 hours just to reached to my number, and it made me surprized when there other patient that just arrived and she got number 10,how come she came late and got number 10 while me came at very early time and got number 12..that time it made me think maybe there is "under the table"certain case here.

I called to make an appointment at this clinic, and was told no appointments just drop in no problem. I was really sceptic about that policy but decided to try it. Went there, saw the line of people outside(!!!) waiting in their cars, the tiny building, and sped away.

I don't understand what is so hard about making an appointment with a Dr. here, it is easier on the Dr and the patient. Hopefully the new policy at Hamad Women's hospital will work well. I have yet to have a positive experience dealing with the health system here but am still keeping an open mind.

@ angelinaballerina, that's such an ignorant comment,it's not even funny...@ all...the lady is one of most well recognized & experienced gynaecologists in the country...she runs her practice largely from a monetary point of view as is obvious from the account narrated above but what in God's name does her name or the implications that her name gives her have anything @ all to do with her knowledge & skill as a doctor???...so you're saying you'd visit a doctor named Jane Doe irrespective of her credentials or qualifications & based only on her name???...

Go to Dr Adnan near Toysrus, he is the nicest man in the world, a good doctor, he has the most advanced ultrasound scanner in Doha and husbands are allowed in for the whole exam/consult. I have known him for 4 years, a very good doctor. You can just turn up on a Saturday morning, no referral needed, consult is about 250QR including ultrasound and written report and photos.

Unfortunately it is like that in most clinics where there is a lot of rush most times. The "appointment time" is actually useless.

If they say 4pm-8pm, that is probably the time between which the clinic remains open in the evenings. So you gotta be there at around 3:30pm and wait in a queue :(. That is the case with private clinics that have the "best" or so called "best" doctors.
