Hi dk - Right then - please dont look at the old forums regarding the Doha College interview proceedure as most of them are debates on the rights and wrongs of interviewing a 3 year old and they wont be any help at all. Tell you what you should do - call Doha college primary and ask them what the procedure is. They will tell you that it is very informal and not at all scary for the parents or for the children. My little girl had an interview with Doha college some time ago and we all arrived (parents and children) and were seated in the library area. The children were encouraged to have a good look around at the books whilst they waited. Tea and coffee was in copious supply for nervous parents. The nursery teacher came up to the library and spoke to the parents about what would happen - basically she takes the children down to the classroom for a play during which time the teachers talk to the children and observe them. I found that all the children were quite happy to go with the teacher as the idea of having a play was too tempting to miss! The parents remained in the library and had a chat and after a short time the parents were invited to go to the classroom and collect their children. After a few days we were advised on whether or not a place had been awarded and that was it.

the interview which is less of an interview as far as the child is concerned and more of an observational process, to assess whether or not the child is ready for school. Doha college prides it's self as being one of, if not the best school in Doha, what they are looking at,is level of English the child understands, if the child can easily socialize with other children, if the child can settle easily with out the help of a parent, if the child can take instruction from some one that is not known to them and can readily identify that person as someone they can go to also if they need something, in short what they are looking for is if your child can be independent of you for the period of time they are at school.

As for the parents interview well in short what they are looking for there is feed back from you as to your child, does the child have any problems they should know about and the most important one for them are you going to be able to afford the fees.

As too when you find out some will find out straight away others won't it just all depends.

Good luck!!

If everyone loved and nobody lied

If everyone shared and swallowed their pride

Then we'd see the day when nobody died....Chad Kroeger

they mainly will "interview" you and yr child will be playing in the preschool class with other kids...i dont know exactly what they asked my son but they want to see if he knows the colours, numbersand if he doesnt have seperation anxietyI understand that the child has to have attended a nursery.

They will reply between 2 to 4 weeks.I would advice you to relax and go and enjoy the opportunity. Its a good school and if u get lucky and yr child is accepted it would be a wonderful chance.

Good luck

I did read that thread...it doesnt say too much about what they interview the kids about-more of a discussion on whether the interview procedure followed by them is right or not...

and plus,i also wanted to know how soon after the interview they let us know whether the kid has secured a place or not-havent found any thread on that one....
