I'd like that Insha-Allah.
Welll, It's nice to experience being incorrect every once in a while ;-) It’s fun! lol
Sure Ummsumaya, I'll be more than happy meeting you both..InshaAllah we'll arrange something once you're in.
sorry to disappoint, but you're incorrect - I'm just a hijabi who's looking into the different options.
May I 'gate-crash' on your meeting with Tata? would love to see you both.
cool :-) !
Many thanks Aisha habibti. Insyallah we'll meet if we decide to move to Qatar.
Right about ummsumaya :-)
Of course Tata I'd like to meet yull. Looking forward to meet with your daughter :-)
Lost you there Aisha? Right about? Would love to meet you if we do decide to move to Qatar. My daughter I'm sure would like to meet you too. She's not too keen on the move.
I was RIGHT :-P
It was me that tried to learn classical arabic much to my teenage daughter's amusement. She had a good laugh when i tried to chat some kids up in the playground in classical Arabic. Those poor kids must have thought I was from mars!
Thanks Lili. Didn't realise that there is Choueifat in Qatar. Their curriculum is quite rigorous. My kids have gone done a gear since leaving the Singapore curriculum which is really rigorous!
Choueifat school is an international school that teachs the Qatari Arabic and Islamic studies ....if your still interested.lili.
Salam / Hi,
thanx for all your replies. I'm very happy to hear that there are women in Qatar who are completely covered and don't feel like they're out of place.
Another (kind of) related question. Are there are facilities for a Muslim women dentist to only practice on women / children? Is that an option in the government clinic? Or would private be a better option?
I'm sorry I don't know about the international schools.heyyyy believe me, teaching your son the classical Arabic is no mistake.
Try to teach the younger kids Arabic if possible. In either ways, In order to be good Muslims they do not have to speak Arabic...Don't worry about that.Just worry about raising them up in a healthy Islamic environment. Do what you can my dear .Almighty Allah said at the last verse of surat Albaqarah in Quran:
Allah does not impose upon any soul a duty but to the extent of its ability.
Tata,Just apply reasons.Ask here and there.
Almighty Allah said in Quran:
and whoever is careful of (his duty to) Allah, He will make for him an outlet, And give him sustenance from whence he thinks not; and whoever trusts in Allah, He is sufficient for him; surely Allah attains His purpose; Allah indeed has appointed a measure for everything.
At-Talaq, Chapter #65, Verse #2
Cheeeers sister! We all speak Islam ;-)
Many thanks Aisha for all the info. What about the international schools do they teach Arabic and Islamic studies. Unfortunately even after 4 1/2 yrs of living in Dubai the kids still cannot speak Arabic despite it being "taught" at school. Ironic how my 12 yr old knows more French than Arabic despite learning both languages almost at the same time. I made the mistake of learning classical Arabic in the hope of understanding the Quran but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to practise it as most people speak English:(
about the khutbah I'm not sure but check it with Qatar Center of Presentation of Islam QCPI # 4864966 They must know about the Islamic events for non Arabs..You can attend cool lectures and join courses there..Mashallah brothers and sisters are doing great may Allah bless them all..
About the kids. Public schools do teach Islam, so do the independents ( so far!) And there are several other private Islamic schools. You should ask people around, It depends on where you live and what schools are near. Also, many masjids teach kids Quran (Tahfeeth), check with any Imam of any masjid and see. Memorizing Quran help your kids understand Arabic more afterwards..Mashallah sister you seem to really care, if so Allah will open you doors..Be sure.
Aisha, perhaps you could help me here. We are non Arab practising Muslims. Are there any masjids that does the Khutbah for the Jumaat prayers in English. We don't speak Arabic, except for prayers and some Arabic words.
Do the kids have to do Arabic and Islamic studies at school? If not is there anywhere that they could go for Islamic instruction and Quran reading in English?
Would really appreciate your input.
Opss....Anywayyy that's even worse :-)
Aisha, redcajun wrote prying not praying. Well if Um Summaya does cover her face, good for her. She certainly will not feel out of place in Qatar.
lol redcjun505, Why do you say that praying is a talent? I don't cover my face if you thought I do and I wished her to be like me!
She insisted on knowing and when she knew that it was common I felt she was pleased.. And the name is another reason..so?
I might be wrong .I myself don't care ...Why would you? :-)
Don't know you Aisha, but I don't believe that was not ummsumaya motive, you just went by the name. How coy! That is not a talent unless prying is.
Don't know you Aisha, but I don't believe that was ummsumaya motive you just went by the name. How coy! That is not a talent unles prying is.
Ummsumaya I think you cover your face :-) Is that's why you asked?
Just wanna check if I still have the talent of understanding people's motives :-D
that's just the info I was after
yes it´s common to cover your face, but not everyone does
I know that westerners need to wear modest clothing, but actually wondering what the muslims wear. Are there a lot that cover their face? Is it that common? Or are there mainly scarves only.
Here we go again...
Orange peel all over their bodies....no! just kiddig... Umm, we have discussed this topic, please search this forum and you will see.
Anyways, you can wear whatever you feel comfortable with, but make sure it is not too revealing or sexy or else you will be looking for trouble. Many women wear the traditional covering, but that´s up to you and your beliefs.
