Interactive Yoga Session by Doha Chapter of ICAI

The Doha Chapter (The “Chapter”) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) commemorated the International Yoga Day by hosting an interactive Yoga session for its members at Birla Public School on the 19th of June. The event was well attended by around 70 Chapter members including their spouses and students.

The Yoga session was conducted by Mr. Ashish Gahlawat who is a Yoga Practitioner with the Indian Embassy. He conducted basic Yoga postures which can be practiced daily along with breathing techniques which relaxes the mind and body. The members along with spouses and kids whole heartedly followed his instructions and simultaneously did the various Yoga postures.

The Chief guest for the event Captain Kapil Kaushik, Defense Attache of the Indian Embassy, in his keynote session emphasized that Yoga has lot of health benefits and should be done consistently. He mentioned that this is the 5th Year of IDY and Yoga is gaining popularity across the world.

Earlier the chapter chairperson CA Rukkaiya Pachisa in her opening remarks welcomed all the members who could make it to the event despite being a working day. She highlighted that this Yoga session is being conducted in line with the International Yoga Day celebrations held across the world.

The vote of thanks was offered by Chapter Vice Chairman CA Sandeep Chowdhary who expressed gratitude to the speaker, members, executive committee team, volunteers and management of Birla Public School in making this event a grand success.

The Doha Chapter of ICAI is established in the year 1981 and is the oldest among the 33 overseas chapters of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India. The current membership of the Chapter is approximately 300, who hold key positions in private and public sector establishments in Qatar and are actively involved in support and development of accounting profession in Qatar. The Chapter is actively involved in enhancing and updating the professional knowledge of its members, local professionals and non-members. Doha Chapter of ICAI is the first professional membership body to be registered with Qatar Financial Centre.
