Main works of South Al Wakra Health Center complete: Ashghal
As Qatar continues to work toward the expansion of health services to meet the needs of the population, the country’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) today announced the completion of the main works of the South Al Wakra Health Center.
The state-of-the-art center covers an area of 3000 square meters. It comprises a single-story main building, which houses the main clinical building, with nine clinics.
The center also features annex buildings such as a mosque, support services building, guards building, monitoring chamber, electrical and mechanical maintenance annex, a garage for ambulances and parking slots for 125 cars.
According to Ashghal, the South Al Wakra Health Center is expected to serve 360 visitors daily.
Construction works for the completion of the center were finished within the target time period, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighted Ashghal’s Head of Health Projects Section, Eng. Hind Al Mahmied.
The building design reflects the heritage and culture of Qatar without compromising int’l standards of safety for fire protection, besides 3-star rated GSAS environment standard & the inclusion of next generation technologies in the field of medical equipment. pic.twitter.com/kldI2isIje— هيئة الأشغال العامة (@AshghalQatar) January 18, 2021

“The project took about 682,000 man-hours without lost-time injury; since Ashghal provides all safety precautionary measures for the workers deployed to the project,” she confirmed.
Eng. Hind also mentioned that three additional health centers are in the works and will be delivered in 2021. These include: Al Khor Health center, Ain Khaled Health Center, Al Sadd Health Center and the National Health Laboratory.
