MoPH issues list of private healthcare facilities participating in flu campaign

Qatar launched the seasonal influenza campaign 2020/2021 earlier this week.
According to healthcare experts, it is even more important to get vaccinated against the seasonal flu this year, amid the presence of the COVID-19 virus.
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) confirmed that the vaccine will be delivered free of cost at all PHCC health centers, HMC (for patients attending clinic appointments) and at over 40 private clinics, hospitals and semi-governmental health care facilities.
Yesterday, the Ministry published the list of private healthcare facilities participating in the anti-flu drive.

On a related note, Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, head of the Infectious Diseases Division at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) yesterday underlined that the flu virus that will be spreading this winter is different from the flu virus that circulated last winter.
“It is also important to note that the flu virus can cause severe illness for some people, especially those at increased risk for developing influenza-related complications,” he cautioned.
Regarding the vaccine available in Qatar, Dr Al Khal said “the seasonal influenza vaccine is currently available in Qatar and is the same we import every year from prestigious companies such as Abbott and Sanofi.”
Earlier, the Ministry had also urged people "to come early to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones from flu – it takes around two weeks for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against flu."
