WATCH: QCS teams up with Medad in the fight against childhood cancer
Every year, September is recognized as the Paediatric Cancer Awareness Month, all over the world, to raise awareness and support as well as funding of childhood cancers.
To commemorate the Paediatric Cancer Awareness Month this year in Qatar, the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) tied up with Medad, a registered trademark in Qatar for product design.
The "Help Me Fight Cancer" campaign by QCS and Medad draws attention to childhood cancer and its impact on children living with the condition as well as their families.
Qatar Living had a word with the founder of Medad, Laila Al-Qaedi, who underlined some of the reasons this campaign is special and will help improve the quality of lives of children with cancer.
Under the campaign, QCS and Medad have tied up with 20 businesses and coffee shops in Qatar to promote specially designed sleeves for coffee cups. These sleeves feature drawings made by kids with cancer and their families.
All proceeds from the sale of these cups will support QCS' research and aid efforts in childhood cancer in the country.
According to Al-Qaedi, "paediatric cancer doesn't get the attention that it deserves," and the campaign is playing an essential role in bringing about a change in this regard.
The causes behind this cancer are mostly unknown, Al-Qaedi highlighted, stressing the need for supporting these children and their families, who deserve to live life without limitations and free from pain.
The businesses participating in the campaign include Flat White Specialty Coffee, KAVA KOFFEE, Eden, Walters, Origin Café, Flow Specialty Coffee, LAPrincesse Coffee, Pinna Bakery & Cafe, Clay Encounters, Roastado, HALO, ÜSHK, Maison Du Pain, CRAFTER, ARA professional Co., Beauty To Go, Eau De Rose, Altseenat Cafe, NK Cafe, and Medium Cafe.
