With COVID-19 restrictions easing, the days of lockdown and sitting at home are now over. Normal daily routines of having to go outside are slowly returning.

We are reminded of how important it is to keep our body active and healthy, with there being no excuse to refrain from working out.

Qatar Living has come up with a brand new series to help you get back to your fitness journey.

Introducing the QL Fitness series, where we will be publishing videos every week covering different fitness topics, with the freelance coach and personal trainer Azhar, to help viewers stay fit.

Coach Azhar specializes in strength and conditioning training.

Starting off strong, the first episode gives a brief introduction to bodyweight exercises that are essential to resistance training, which helps in providing resistance against gravity, according to coach Azhar.

Coach Azhar elaborates on how bodyweight training is a good option for six different reasons: enhancing biomotor abilities, bodyweight control, convenience, cost-effectiveness, and enjoyment.

He says it gives you strength, power, endurance, better coordination, flexibility, and balance.

Azhar also explains how one can do bodyweight training anywhere and everywhere, whether in the park, at work or at home, and without equipment, as most exercises do not require tools.

He highlights how fun bodyweight training can be, as there is no routine to be followed, and various excercises can be mixed up as one pleases. 

In the coming weeks, different exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups, and dips, will be explained in detail.

Regardless of how much previous experience one has in resistance training, including those that struggle with exercising, these detailed lessons on how to perform exercises will allow you to get back into form.
